Nothing should say who you are like your home. Yet often, a home just says the occupant likes to eat a lot of fried fish, or has a cat, or shops like they’re prepping for an episode of Hoarders: Buried Alive in Tchotchke. If you love your home but feel it doesn’t reflect your delicate sensibilities – or anybody’s sensibilities except for the builder and the people who owned a massage parlour here before you moved in – maybe it’s time to #injectsomeedge into your home décor.
The thing is, edge is too edgy for some. If you’re not sure about edge, here is what we found on dictionary.com:
1.tense, nervous, or irritable.“he became edgy and defensive”
2.informalat the forefront of a trend; experimental or avant-garde.“their songs combine good music and smart, edgy ideas”
Well, there’s no doubt that Terry, Matthew and Steven can get a little nervously irritable, even impatient and anxious at times; catch Matthew before his morning Starbucks and he just might throw a sewing machine at you. However, we at teb prefer to think of ourselves as daringly innovative, or as we like to call it, ‘over the top and cray-cray’.
Oh dear: still too edgy for you? Let’s talk about glam.
Well….now that wasn’t very helpful, was it? Okay, let’s use it in a sentence:
“Actually, kink was never as glam as people imagined it to be.”
It’s when you put the two ideas together
– as in Gledgy –
that it really starts to sing.
Think the elusive, sexy characteristics of a supermodel combined with the
“Oh my God, did he really just do that?!” quality of Alice Cooper.
Some of the best human examples of Gledgy would be mega Rock Stars David Bowie, Freddy Mercury and 1970’s Elton John (Anything past the Lion King era is NOT Gledgy)
In your living room, Gledgy can be quite different.
We can explain.
“Transforming spaces, one Gledgy room at a time”
At teb, we strive to make all our products with sophistication, exceptional quality and attention to detail – glamour, if you will – but let’s not forget the edge. Take our custom pillows: made from the finest fabrics you will long to touch and stroke, carefully triple-sewn to last and complemented with our signature purple zipper and lining…sure, they may be made of glam silk or velvet, and accented with luxury items such as sequins, jewels or feathers, but because our style is darker, naughtier, sexier and smarter than you might expect from people who make pillows, you’re not going to find edge in short supply.
Thinking of a Gledgy
look for your space?
- Juxtaposition of rustic elements such as reclaimed wood and exposed brick, with modern materials and glitzy light fixtures
- An industrial, ‘masculine’ look contrasted with luxe accessories like the aforementioned throw pillows
- Use of unorthodox materials, such as a bed frame made from scaffolding or a chandelier made out of chain mail
- Lots of bling, like gold, crystal and glass
- Animal prints such as leopard and zebra
- Glamorous embellishments contrasted with natural fabrics, like jute and burlap
